Piip Domain Check (“the app”) is a domain-name availability
checker published by Piip Mobile AG. We designed it to be private by default. This
policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
Summary
We do not collect, store, or share any personal data.
There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
Everything the app remembers stays on your device.
What the app sends over the network
To tell you whether a domain is registered, the app looks the domain up in the
public registration system:
The domain name you enter is sent to the relevant
registry’s RDAP server (with a WHOIS
server as a fallback). These servers are operated by third-party domain
registries and registry operators — not by us.
These lookups are the same public queries any “whois” tool
performs. We send only the domain name being checked; we do not attach any
identifier, account, or personal information to the request.
We do not control, and are not responsible for, the privacy practices of those
third-party registry operators. Their handling of queries is governed by their
own policies.
What the app stores on your device
Search history — the domains you have checked and their
results — is saved only on your device so you can see your
recent lookups. You can erase it at any time with Clear History,
and it is removed if you uninstall the app.
Preferences — such as appearance (light/dark) and, on
Android, the optional “use wallpaper colours” setting — are stored
only on your device.
None of this information is transmitted to us or to anyone else.
Permissions
Internet access — used solely to perform the RDAP/WHOIS
lookups described above. The app requests no other permissions (no location,
contacts, camera, storage, etc.).
Children
The app contains no objectionable content, no ads, and collects no data. It is
suitable for all ages.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and publish the revised
version at the same URL.
